Mission Statement: The Shakespeare Competition cultivates the art of theatre, dance, and music by providing active observation of peer and professional performance, educational creations based on Shakespeare’s plays and poems and personal evaluation by working theatre and dance professionals.
 
Where is the competition? The competition is hosted by Southern Utah University and the Utah Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City, Utah. Events are scheduled in various locations in Cedar City including the SUU Campus, other venues with performing spaces in Cedar City, and the Heritage Center.
What Southern Utah University performances will take place during the competition? Macbeth.
What Utah Shakespeare Festival performances will take place during the competition? The Sound of Music, Clue, The Tempest, &Thurgood.
What are the time limits for competition pieces?
Mono (one person): two to four minutes
Duo/Trio (two or three people):  three to five minutes
Ensemble (no less than four people): six to ten minutes
Dance Duo/Trio (two or three people): three to six minutes 
Dance Ensemble (no less than four people):  three to six minutes
Music Troubadour: one piece, up to six minutes
Music Minstrel: one piece, up to six minutes
Music Canzonetta: one to three pieces, up to ten minutes
Music Madrigal: one to three pieces, up to ten minutes
Can students compete in multiple events? Yes! There may be scheduling conflicts if students compete in multiple categories (i.e. acting and dance), but schools can let us know ahead of time of the potential conflict on the Schedule Conflict Form, and we will be sure to avoid overlap. If students compete in multiple events in the same category (i.e. acting monologues and acting duo/trio scenes, or music madrigal and music minstrel), there will not be any conflicts.
What do non-competing students do at the competition? Workshops. Acting, dance, music, and tech workshops will be offered for the students and coaches. These are taught by professional artists and technicians. Students and coaches are encouraged, but not required to attend. A workshop schedule will be sent to participating schools one week prior to the competition.

Mission Statement: The Utah Theatre Association creates an annual conference where secondary education students and teachers have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of theatre, connect with theatre peers and professionals, and celebrate in the creation of educational theatre.
Vision: The Utah Theatre Association aims to create an effective and efficient conference, and other career opportunities, that provide any regional secondary education student the opportunity to have a positive and enlightening theatrical learning experience.

Where is the Conference? The Conference is being hosted by the Theatre Department at Utah Valley University.

For Current Seniors Interested in pursuing Theatrical Arts in College there are Scholarship Auditions.
Seniors who plan on majoring in Theatre at a college or university have the opportunity to submit a video audition or presentation to be reviewed by University Representatives. These representatives have the opportunity to offer scholarships.
Teachers nominate students using the Scholarship Registration Form by TBA
ACTING AUDITION- students prepare a two minute audition video and a resume.
THEATRE ARTS PRESENTATION- students prepare a portfolio, a two-minute presentation video, and a resume.
Students submit their audition/presentation material on the Scholarship Submission Form before TBA
A “call back” list will be posted on the website listing the students the universities will be reaching out to. Each university will handle their “call backs” differently. Some universities may contact the students directly, and some universities may ask the students to contact them. Most colleges will be available at the UTA conference in January for further discussions. Details will be provided on the call back list.

One Act Play Competition March 16, 2023  Individual Acting Events March 22, 2023

Mission Statement: The Region Theatre Competition cultivates a love for the art of theatre by providing active observation of peer performance from all styles and genres of Theatre.
 
Where is the competition? The One Act Play Competition will be March 16 @ Mountain Ridge High School.  The Individual Acting Events will be March 22 @ Bingham High School.
 
What are the categories I can compete and how long does it need to be?
Humorous Monologues (one person): 2-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
Dramatic Monologues (one person): 2-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
Pantomime (1-2 people): 2-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
Classical Scenes (2-3 people): 3-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
Contemporary Scenes (2-3 people): 3-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
Musical Theatre Scenes (1-4 people): 2-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
One Act Play (1 group of students): 25-55 minutes, One entry allowed.
Costume Design (1 person): Project Based, Four entries allowed.
Set Design (1 person): Project Based, Four entries allowed.
Can students compete in multiple events? Yes.  Students may compete in the One act Play and Individual Acting Events, or may compete in the Acting Events and Technical Theatre Events.
How do I qualify for the State Competition? Competitors receiving 60 points or higher, qualify to move on to state competition regardless of their rankings.
How do I receive a medal for my work? Competitors receiving 65 points or higher, or qualifying for the finals round will receive a medal and move on to state competition.
How do I compete for first, second or third place in my category? The ranking scores from the first three rounds will determine the top 5-8 pieces from each category.  The lower the ranking score, the higher the chance to qualify.  In case of a tie in ratings, the pieces with the highest point score will be selected.

Mission Statement: The State Theatre Competition cultivates a love for the art of theatre by providing active observation of peer performance from all styles and genres of Theatre.  The state competition recognizes excellence and outstanding work in the art of Theatre.
 
Where is the competition? The One Act Play Competition will be April 20 & 21 @ Riverton High School.  The Individual Acting Events will be April 22 @ Riverton High School.
 
What are the categories I can compete and how long does it need to be?
Humorous Monologues (one person): 2-6 minutes, Four entries allowed.
