CHHS Virtual Learning for 2nd Semester

Good morning Copper Hills Family!
As we transition into semester 2, we appreciate all you are doing for your students in helping them be successful.  This notice is specific to those who have requested a change to virtual learning with Jordan School District Online or are looking for online options.  Due to issues with Skyward and programming options which have never existed before and are being created to facilitate learning through Covid-19, counselors throughout the district have been unable to make changes to virtual schedules for over a week.  We understand the issues/stress this presents.  The district is working diligently to solve the issues.  If your student is planning on being enrolled in online learning with JSD and you have requested this change before the December 2, 2020 deadline, your counselor will facilitate changes once able to do so.  Teachers of these online classes will be understanding of the situation.

For those requesting online options and did not submit their request by December 2, there are a number of other options which are regularly used by counselors throughout the district:

State Online Education Program (SOEP) - This is the online education program through the state of Utah. Parents and students can enroll themselves online and counselors are notified so that graduation credits can be checked. Please follow up with your counselor concerning enrollment as there are restrictions on the number of classes a student may take during a semester. This is a free option from the state.
Northridge Learning Center - These courses are paper packets and cost $55 per quarter credit.
BYU Independent Study - BYU offers high school students the opportunity to take courses online. These courses vary in price.
Utah Students Connect - USC is a district partner. Seat availability is limited, please reach out to your counselor for enrollment in this option. Free during the academic year with a cost during the summer.

We appreciate your patience with all virtual changes.
