Esport Teams

Before you sign up:
Please go to Playvs.com and create an account, do not use your school email, the district blocks communication between Playvs and your email.

Our teams are competitive and require you to participate in tryouts where you will be asked to demonstrate your skills and team play with the coach and/or the team captain. We cannot guarantee that all students who apply will be given an opportunity to try out. We recommend using the summer months to practice and grind out your online ranks so you can have the best possible application to submit in the Fall/Spring.

Please be aware that these teams require the same level of commitment as any other sports team in the school. You will be expected to complete practice each week and you will be required to attend the majority of scheduled games. There is also a fee associated with participation; currently, it is $5 + game-specific fees (More info below!) but that is subject to change.

If you do not want to try out or if you do not make the Varsity or JV team you are invited to organize your own team. Self-organized teams also known as 'non-competitive teams' will still get a regular season on playvs and may qualify for the playoffs; The only disadvantages are that they are not the official team, their games will not be streamed to the school's Twitch or this website and they cannot compete in the official iteamUSA Utah state championship.

Our League team consists of the standard 5 roles. We are accepting both players who play in one lane and players who play multiple lanes. Your ability to play more than one role will not give you an advantage in tryouts. Games will be held every Tuesday at 4 in the regular season. We provide gaming keyboards and mice, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. League of Legends tournaments are held on HSEL and may switch to PlayVS in Spring 2024 but there is no fee currently.

All Rocket League games are played in the 3v3 format. Regular season games are played on Thursdays at 4. Due to the highly competitive nature of our teams, it is recommended that you are ranked Diamond or higher, but we may accept lower ranks for tryouts. While we try to keep enough controllers for everyone to have one, you may want to bring your own to make sure it is in the same style as what you are used to. For the time being, Rocket League players do not have to pay any fees to compete.
